5 Worst Books Of 2016

These are 5 of the worst books that I read in 2016. I didn’t necessarily hate them all but they just are not books that I would read again or recommend personally, but of course this is just my opinion and a lot of other people may enjoy them.

Utopia by Thomas More. I thought a lot of the concepts were interesting and some of the points that he was trying to get across were thought-provoking but the book as a whole just wasn’t really something that I enjoyed.

Nightwork by Christine Schutt. This was a book of short stories and honestly I did not enjoy any of them. I actually can’t even remember what any of them were about. I didn’t like this book at all and it was actually the second book of hers that I read and didn’t enjoy.

All Souls by Christine Schutt. This book was about a young girl in an all girls school (If I remember correctly) that was sick and in the hospital and it’s told through many different characters. I was not a fan of this book at all.

Read Bottom Up by Neel Shah & Skye Chatham. I didn’t hate this book but I also didn’t love it. It was about a couple who start an online relationship. It was told through text messages and emails between the two of them as well as their two friends. I think that the story being told the way it was is what turned me off. I didn’t become invested in the relationship. It was hard to feel for these characters when you really didn’t see them interact personally, but rather hear about it after the fact. I think I would have enjoyed it a little more if there were fewer emails and more direct contact.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. I wanted to love this book so badly. I heard some great things about it and I had watched the movie. I wasn’t really all that impressed by the movie but I always love books better so I thought I would still give it a chance. I read about a quarter of it and then bought the audiobook and read along with it and I just couldn’t wait for it to be over. I did not like this book at all and I think this was the worst book that I read in 2016.

So those are the worst books I read in 2016, like I said a lot of other people may enjoy them but they just weren’t my cup of tea.
